Ryan Cox will be beginning his third year of coaching the Lions Basketball team in 2010-2011.
Coach Cox is also be the first coach in the boys program history, as MCS added boys basketball in 2009-2010. Knowing that it was
crucial to start the program in the right direction, MCS feels blessed to have someone with as much knowledge as Coach Cox.
Ryan, as a high school player, was a two sport standout. Cox was the
quarterback on the football team and was an All-State performer in both
basketball and football. In basketball he averaged over 30 points per game
while continuously being double teamed. Cox, whose playing career ended almost 20
years ago, still has his name appear in numerous state records including most points in a game (63 pts), most 3 pointers in a game (11), most interceptions
in a playoff game (4), and most interceptions in a season (16).
Cox,
who resides in Troy, graduated from Eastern IL in the spring of 1996
with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with a minor in business. While at
Eastern, Ryan was a defensive back on the football team. Cox,
who is married to MCS director Angela, has two sons, each of which
is on the basketball team and one runs cross country for Coach
Moore. email:
